Jolly Rodger

Built by: Bob Schaffer in Linden, New Jersey

Aaaarrgh, this here's me Jolly Rodger. She's built from a reissue kit, but painted to look like the original 1970 box art. Other than the hemp twine rigging, it's all box stock, with lots of paint detail.

Fenders are VW New Beetle Yellow with multicolor flake. Body is Copper Pearlex mixed in Tamiya clear orange. Side panels are hugger orange, railings ivory. A few different Testors browns are used on the wood, and the driver got a wash of grey-brown over the whitish kit plastic.

Krylon brass dresses up the bell, and ship's wheel. The Olds engine is completely chrome and the strip down the side is gold bare metalfoil.

These old MPC kits are nicely detailed and build up well.
