This Sporty Interior is Quite Clean

The outside is nice, but the interior is better. Only one small split in the vinyl seats. The buckets were standard, with a "bench" seat optional that year!

The seat belts are totally separate from the shoulder-harnesses--they fold up into a plastic slot above the door on each side. I don't use them. There are sensors in each front seat to trip a buzzer if there is someone in either seat trying to drive without the seat belts fastened. It's quite annoying which (I suppose) is why they don't do it this way any more.

The steering wheel is the "Sport" option from that year. Three-spoke with a nice cushioned feel. Center logo is "PMD" (Pontiac Motor Division.) Carpeting is only worn on the driver's front. The rear carpeting looks (practically) unused.

The dashboard is just a bit tired, but the original owner chose to have a clock to the left in the Rally gauge cluster. I would have preferred the tachometer/clock option.

To the left: It's quite a comfortable cockpit.

73 facts about the GTO
GTO seats are remarkably durable. What we call "vinyl" Pontiac called "Expanded Morrokide". I'm not sure how they differed from anything else on the market, but it has held up very well on vintage GTOs like mine.
